Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that features numerous comforts aside from the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
