Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, contains 150 slots and sixty table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
